Mission Statement
Parkinson Social Network
advocates, supports and enriches
the lives of those touched by Parkinson’s disease.
Advocates
We speak up for ourselves by sharing our knowledge and compassion with each other. We share what life is like for people with Parkinson’s, teach caregivers how to provide better care, and provide information on resources and services from within our local community as well as regional, national and international Parkinson.
Supports
We care and share to support each other with compassion and humor, through good times and sad.
Enriches
As a reminder that patients are people too we encourage our friends to share their wealth of knowledge and experience because we all have something to contribute to the world.
Our Vision
Is to be a reliable source of information and resources
on how to live well with Parkinson’s disease.
About Our Organization
In June 2016 we held our first cafe in Fairfax, Virginia with Insight Memory Care center as our gracious hosts. We modeled our cafés on their Memory Café concept that provides a safe and supportive environment for people to get together. Having it on good authority from our dear friend Bob, that people with Parkinson’s can be enticed with donuts, we offer donuts and coffee.
We confirmed our belief that when people come together in an informal social environment, the care and support they give each other is invaluable. When people share their experiences and form friendships, they are comforted to know that they are not alone.
In 2017 we established Parkinson Social Network as a 501(c)(3) Nonprofit Organization dedicated to offering more opportunities for people touched by Parkinson’s to come together and inspire each other to make the most of life with Parkinson’s.
