Just a reminder that all in-person support events have been suspended due to the COVID-19 /Coronavirus pandemic. To support our Parkinson’s community, PSN offers three online (via Zoom) support options each month:

Caregiver’s Support Group via Zoom*
Tuesday, November 9th
10:00am-11:30am EDT
This month: Dr. Sarah Lageman, Ph.D., ABPP-CN
Associate Professor

Online learning – Is it for you?
Wednesday, November 17th
10am-11:30am EDT
Stephen Ruth is a professor of public policy at George Mason University, specializing in technology issues associated with globalization and is director of the International Center for Applied Studies in Information Technology, a grant-supported research center. He has done extensive research on distance learning and currently teaches several courses asynchronously (no face to face).
The presentation will examine some of the important issues associated with distance learning, especially in postsecondary education, particularly some of the lessons learned in the recent shifts to virtual learning throughout the education system. Of possible interest to the group will be some suggestions for free online college courses, many of them available from the world’s great universities. Persons with Parkinson’s may face some challenges as well as opportunities in online learning, and these will be mentioned.

Support Group for People with Parkinson’s Disease via Zoom*
Tuesday, November 23rd
10:00am-11:30am EDT
This month’s topic: What do you expect from and how do you appreciate your caregiver?
This will be an open discussion facilitated by Parkinson Social Network volunteers who either live with Parkinson’s or have experience caring for those with Parkinson’s.

Research & Study Opportunity
You are also welcome to visit our Research & Study Opportunities page for more information about this study and others currently recruiting volunteers.
—————————————————-
If you have a diagnosis of Parkinson’s disease, you are invited to participate in a research study.
Sydney Richards, a Master’s student in the Genetic Counseling Training Program at the University of Maryland School of Medicine is conducting a new research study to better understand the experience of individuals with Parkinson’s disease with genetic testing.
We need your help and want to hear about your experience and opinions! People who have and have not had genetic testing are encouraged to take part!
The study includes just a short, online survey that should only take about 15 minutes to complete. All answers are anonymous.
This study is voluntary, and your decision to participate will not affect your medical care.
