Last week when I wrote about the James Parkinson tulip, I was inspired by a photo taken by a person living with Parkinson’s that was featured in the Dartmouth-Hitchcock Parkinson’s Newsletter. We have since received permission to share the photo with you. Many thanks to Pat for sharing this lovely photo taken by her husband, Ralph. Pat wrote, “Last fall we planted a few James Parkinson tulip bulbs that we had ordered from the Maine Parkinson Society. As you can see, they are quite cheerful and a great addition to the garden.”

Live Your Best Life With Parkinson’s

Tim Hague, presenter and author of upcoming book Perseverence, will draw on his twenty-plus years of experience as a nurse, six-plus years living with Parkinson’s, and as the winner of the inaugural season of The Amazing Race Canada, to empower listeners to persevere.

Music and Memory

Insight Memory Care Center, our host for Cafe Fairfax, is featuring it’s Music and Memory program in two ways this month.

1. Wednesday, June 20 from 5:00 pm  – 8:00 pm 
   The 6th Annual Music & Memory at the Silver Diner
   At: Merrifield Silver Diner, 8150 Porter Road, Falls Church, VA 22042
   You can support the program just by eating! A portion of the evening’s proceeds will go to Insight’s Music & Memory program. If you would like to donate new iPod shuffles or gently used iPods, they will be most welcome, as will Apple Store or iTunes gift cards. Click here for more information.
2. Wednesday, June 27 from 1:00 pm – 3:00 pm
   Learn more about the Music & Memory program.

   Learn more about how to identify favorite artists, songs and genres of music and how to set-up and tailor and individualized playlist. This program will be helpful for professional caregivers and family members to use the program at home. Respite care may be available by request; please notify Insight when registering to confirm availability.
